Are you ready to lead like a Girl Scout?

At Girl Scouts we combine life skills, STEM, the outdoors, and entrepreneurship with civic engagement to deliver crucial, life-changing, girl-led programming.

Our proven approach gives girls the opportunities to unleash their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™, prepare for a lifetime of leadership, and change the world. Whoa!

So what will you do? Cookies, badges, campfires, and friendship bracelets? You bet! But we’re so much more than that. At Girl Scouts, you’ll always get to think big, try new things, and be a role model in your community.

Here, the possibilities are absolutely endless. Because once your inner leader takes center stage, anything—and we mean anything—is possible.

What she gets from joining Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts are happy and confident, and they thrive on new adventures and experiences.

A Girl Scout knows she's having fun, but you'll know she's also gaining:

  • Important financial literacy skills (math, anyone?) as she participates in the largest girl-run business in the world—the Girl Scout Cookie Program
  • Healthy relationship skills that will help her navigate through her school years, especially as she moves into middle school and high school
  • Knowledge that will help her in science classes as she builds robots, conducts amazing experiments with her friends, or explores the natural world around her
  • Leadership skills that will make it easier for her to speak up in class and advocate for herself and others

Girls become more empowered as they move through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, a set of activities and challenges designed to deliver specific benefits to girls at every age level.

Underneath the fun, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience benefits girls in five important ways:

  • STRONG SENSE OF SELF
Girls develop confidence in themselves and their abilities, and form positive identities.
  • POSITIVE VALUES
Girls act ethically, honestly, and responsibly, and show concern for others.
  • CHALLENGE SEEKING
Girls take appropriate risks, try things even if they might fail, and learn from mistakes.
  • HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
Girls develop and maintain healthy relationships by communicating their feelings directly and resolving conflicts constructively.
  • COMMUNITY PROBLEM SOLVING
Girls desire to contribute to the world in purposeful and meaningful ways, learn how to identify problems in the community, and create “action plans” to solve them.

And it doesn't stop there. Joining Girl Scouts helps her excel in every area of her life, including at home and at school.

What girls are saying about their Girl Scout experience

My experience as a Girl Scout made me a better, more confident person and showed me ways to make the world a better place.
13-year-old Girl Scout, Massachusetts

It’s really important for girls to stay engaged with science and engineering since it’s such a large part of our world. Girl Scouts showed me it was okay for girls to be interested in STEM. I need to know about these technologies to help me in my future career.
16-year-old Girl Scout, Florida

Without Girl Scouts I would not be where I am today. I think I’ve earned better grades than I would have otherwise. Now I’m looking forward to college, and Girl Scouts has made me more competitive when it comes to applying for the scholarships I’ll need to be able to afford my education.
—15-year-old Girl Scout, Ohio

I used to feel weird because I liked science and math and a lot of my friends were more interested in girly things. After we did some STEM activities in Girl Scouts, I know I can actually be a scientist when I grow up.
—11-year-old Girl Scout, Colorado

School is so much stress and hard for me. Girl Scouts is where I can be good at stuff. Teaching arts and crafts or leading games for younger scouts makes me feel good about myself, like I can do something good. Camping and travel with my friends and no boys around is the best part of Girl Scouts.
13-year-old Girl Scout, Texas

I really like the Girl Scout cookie sale because it teaches me to be more social and to have good eye contact with people.
10-year-old Girl Scout, Texas

My leaders are the best. I used to be very shy, in Daisies, but now I’m not, and it’s because of joining Scouts, getting to know them, and making friends and learning.
12-year-old Girl Scout, Pennsylvania

I got to dig holes to plant trees. They taught the right way to do it and why. We also planted flowers and it was neat to see them bloom this spring.
10-year-old Girl Scout, Oklahoma

I started camping with my troop when I was a Brownie and have since improved my skills... I have learned how to cook outside, hike, lead, do archery, tie dye, and so much more just from going camping. Everything that I learn during camping with my troop will help me later in life.
12-year-old Girl Scout, Illinois
