Did you know the world’s beaches are composed of sand that is made from minerals, rock fragments, and/or biomolecules? During this program, participants will become sand detectives, tasked with determining the origin and composition of mystery sand samples from around the globe.  Using sand grain characteristics such as color, composition, shape, and size, participants will investigate and solve this geological mystery.  Girl Scouts will learn about the dynamic beach ecosystem, explore the geological characteristics of local beaches, and create sand cards.

Cost: $15 per girl
