In this month's Donor Spotlight, we'd like to extend a warm, Girl Scout thanks to our former CEO, Jan Feyler and former GSSNE staff member, Lianne Pinheiro for helping to continue the legacy of the Newhall fund for urban programs.
Over twenty years ago, two of our council’s greatest volunteers and supporters, Virginia Moss Newhall and Betty Cugini, started a fund that has made a difference in the lives of thousands of girls who participate in Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England’s Urban Outreach Programs.
Since 1996, the Newhall Fund has provided opportunites for girls located in urban areas to experience new things, gain self-confidence, and learn important skills that will last them a lifetime. To grow our leaders of tomorrow, girls require a place where they can just be girls, have fun, and make new friends in a safe, supportive environment.
Monies donated to the Newhall fund assist our council in providing financial assistance for these girls to not only participate in weekly meetings, but also offers them the opportunity of new adventures, like camping at one of our beautiful Girl Scout camp facilities or a field trip to a never before experienced destination!
If you would like to make a difference in the life of a girl, please consider making a gift today to the Newhall fund and GSSNE’s Urban Outreach Programs. Click here to donate today!
