Taking a Bite of the Big Apple!
Twenty-eight Junior/Cadette Girl Scouts from Troop 274, Warwick, RI just completed a whirlwind weekend in the "Big Apple!" After arriving in New York City late Friday night, we enjoyed authentic NY style pizza before hitting the hay at an eclectic hostel located right near Central Park. We woke early Saturday morning and headed to Rockefeller Plaza to see the filming of the TODAY show. We were all on camera, and host Dillon even asked some of us questions on live TV!
Next, we grabbed some freshly baked NY bagels and headed out on a grand tour of NYC. After a quick subway ride, we stopped by Battery Park before boarding the Staten Island Ferry to catch a view of the Statue of Liberty! Once back on dry land, our twelve hour walking tour took us all over New York City including Brooklyn Heights, Staten Island, Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan, and more! Gazing at the grandeur of Grand Central Station, enjoying the view of the city while walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, and visiting the fountains at the 9/11 Memorial site were some of the tour's highlights. After walking 11+ miles, we ended our tour surrounded by the dazzling lights and flashing billboards in Times Square.
Sunday morning we were out the door early for a Q&A session with the Rockettes before enjoying their performance of the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular."
It was a perfect ending to our fabulous trip!
