Get Excited About Camp Green Forest 2018!

Summer Camp 108

It's almost a new year, and we're already looking forward to summer camp! Camp registration opens on January 2 and you won't want to miss out on the adventures ahead.

The 2018 Camp Guide is available online NOW, click HERE to view it! You'll also receive a mailed hard copy in the mail by mid-January. Remember to sign up early for the BEST summer ever! You'll even score a discount if you register before April 1.

We're excited to share a few updates for this coming summer camp season, too:

Day Camp Sessions

Camp Green Forest will run for five weeks

Camp Rocky Farm, Camp Promising Acres, and Camp Cookie will each run for three weeks

Late Pick-up at Camp Green Forest

To better meet the needs of our working families, we're experimenting with offering a longer day option at Green Forest this summer! Families can opt to pick up between 4 pm - 5:30 pm at camp (at no extra charge). You can select a late on-site pick-up option during online registration! For all of our day camps, we'll also still have bus transportation available and Thursday late nights. More camp, more fun!

The longer day option will be made possible in part by the merging of the Camp Hoffman and Camp Green Forest staff teams. Our dedicated counselors will ensure an amazing, safe, and progressive camp experience for your camper as they enjoy everything that day camp has to offer. And if your camper would like to try out overnight camp, they'll even recognize some familiar staff faces!

Buddy Up / Water Ways Trainings

If your camper is currently in 8th grade (or older) and is eager to complete Buddy Up / Water Ways Training, these programs will be offered at Camp Cookie and Camp Promising Acres in 2018. We anticipate rotating these training programs to different camps each summer! If attending the week-long summer training at one of these camps isn’t possible, don’t worry – we’ll be soon creating a special spring 2018 weekend Program Aide Training! Program Aide is a Girl Scouts USA leadership award for Girl Scouts in grades 6 – 8 and participants will be able to complete many similar components of Buddy Up Training before the summer even begins. Program Aide Training will also count as a prerequisite for Buddy Up or Water Ways Apprenticeships, so your camper will be “jumpstarted” to enroll directly into an Apprenticeship session this summer!

The Benefits of Camp

At Girl Scout camp, girls explore their talents, interests, and values in a uniquely supportive environment. They problem-solve, learn resiliency and responsibility, and gain new skills while being part of a special community rich with traditions. We believe that girls are growing and creating lifelong memories at camp. Did you know that GSSNE is proud to heavily subsidize the costs of our overnight and day camps each year? This summer, the base cost for a week at day camp is either $255 or $265, but our true cost is actually $430 per camper per week. Our base cost this summer for a week of overnight camp is $475; our true cost is really $995 per camper per week. We are happy to keep our fees affordable and competitive with other similar camp opportunities. If you would like to help off-set our expenses and allow us to continue offering camp experiences for families of all incomes, you can do so this year during the registration process! Financial aid is also available.
