At Girl Scouts, there is nothing we take more seriously than the safety and wellbeing of our girls, volunteers, and council staff. Like you, we have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. We just watched Governor Raimondo Press Conference regarding school vacation in Rhode Island being changed from mid-April to begin on March 16th.
We are advising that all service unit and troop meetings/activities be postponed during the school closure. We have also cancelled any programs that were to take place this coming week and will continue to monitor the situation to make decisions on future programs.
As we are in the final weeks of the Cookie Program, we encourage families to make the best decision regarding the safety of their entrepreneur and her cookie business during the remainder of the 2020 Cookie Season. We know that many troops have booths scheduled for this weekend, and we suggest that you consult with the caregivers of the girls in your troop regarding postponing or canceling these cookie booths. To support all girls in achieving their cookie goals for the exciting activities they have planned, we will be extending the 2020 Cookie Program dates to help any troops who would like to reschedule their booths. If you are going to cancel a scheduled booth, please also cancel the booth(s) in Smart Cookies. Direct Ship and Girl Delivered options will also be extended beyond the originally scheduled March 28th date.
