Researcher for a Day: Hematology - (C, S, A)

Through the preparation and staining of blood slides, identification of individual cells and the determination of cell functions, students will discover how the components of blood can be used gain information on an animal's health. This workshop demonstrates fascinating real-time applications of both immunology and hematology in the diagnosis and treatment of illness. Registration includes admission to the aquarium.

Solve the Crime with URI - (C, S, A)

Can you solve the crime? Who did it? Come learn how a forensics team assess a crime scene and even practice collecting fingerprints!

Booths and Finances 2023 - Adults

Get ready for booth season! This is an overview of the booth process including reservations, lottery, and First Come First Served. Also includes an overview of the finances involved in running a successful cookie program like tracking individual Girl Scout payments, making payments to council, and reviewing your financial reports. Open to Troop Leaders, Troop Cookie Managers, Troop Support Volunteers, and Product Program Coordinators. 

ASHI First Aid/CPR/AED - Adult 1-17-23

This course prepares adults to respond to an emergency situation through basic first aid, CPR, and AED. Attendees successfully completing this course will receive a 2-year national certification.

Camp Host Training - Adult- 1-28-23

MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

Date: Sat Jan 28, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST

Camp Hosts are required to stay overnight, provide tours of the museum, offer troops assistance with camping functions when requested, trouble shoot any issues that arise, and keep the camp safe. Camp Hosts ensure the needs of guests and visiting troops are met within the framework set in the Troop Camp Manual with regard to equipment and program facilities available for troop camp use.

Newport Seal Harbor Cruise - (C, S, A) 2-20-23

This 1 hour cruise introduces girls to our winter visitors The Harbor Seal as they explore the surrounding waters for a look at these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. Girls are introduced to why we have a perfect resting spot for Harbor Seals, their adaptations and the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Audubon Whales CSI - (C, S, A)

Date: Sat Mar 11, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST

Participants will take a "deep dive" and learn all about whales! They will discover how whales and dolphins are classified, and explore whale biology and anatomy. Students will also have the opportunity to perform a mock necropsy on the large-scale whale model in the Audubon Society aquarium!

Women in Trucking Patch Program - (J,C,S,A)

Women In Trucking has teamed up with the Girl Scouts to offer a fun-filled event to learn about the trucking industry and earn a patch! The girls are able to participate in fun, hands-on activities related to supply chain, hear from women leaders in the industry, and even climb inside the trucks. 

Casey Farm Visit (D, B, J) 4-18-23

Project CHICK field trip, this trip will involve learning about eggs, visiting and then holding our chicks, visiting our baby turkeys and ducks, visiting our adult chickens and grinding corn to feed them, collect eggs and wash them and then grade and weigh them for sale, do the chicken land activity and hunt for worms in our scratch pit and if time visit our baby pigs and our rabbits.

Leave No Trace Trainer Certification - Adults 4-22-23

Whatever your outdoor skill level, GSSNE’s Troop Camp Training will prepare you to help girls of all ages have a positive experience in the great outdoors and develop a passion for nature. This course is hands-on and teaches volunteers how to teach their Girl Scouts to camp the Girl Scout way.

Wilderness First Aid Certification

MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

Required to take a troop on a hike, a backpacking trip or to an off-trail camping site which is more than 30 minutes from 911. This ASHI course (American Health and Safety Institute) is a 16-hour comprehensive certification course that covers a wide-range of rescue scenarios. The course will be taught over a weekend at a GSSNE camp; the fee covers meals, training materials and manuals. Certification is for two years.

Leave No Trace: Take Action to Protect the Outdoors - Adults

This National curriculum will provide you with a better understanding of recreation-related impacts, the Seven Principles, and how Leave No Trace skills and ethics help protect the outdoor places we love.
