Date: Sat Jun 14, 9:00 AM EST - Sat Jun 14, 2:00 PM EST
Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to join this Eco Hike at
Horseneck Beach State Reservation! Begin with a lesson learning about
conservation efforts and shorebird populations with the lead
Conservation Biologist for the South Coast. Then, take a roundtrip
hike to Gooseberry Island with Girl Scout staff as we learn about the
historical and social importance of the area. We will stop on the
island to enjoy lunch. As we return to Horseneck Beach, Girl Scouts
will help with litter clean up to protect the coastal ecosystem. This
is not a drop off program. Please plan to hike on 4-5 miles of uneven
rocky and sandy terrain, bring water, lunch, and a day bag. This
program is weather dependent and a rain date is set for June 15th.
This program is free to register, and is made possible in partnership
with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Is
your Girl Scout or troop working on an outdoor badge? Please email
customercare@gssne.org or call 401-331-4500 to see how this program
can help!
