Behind every girl who discovers her strength is a volunteer who shows up, cheers her on, and believes in her. You already have what it takes to inspire girls to explore, grow, and lead. Along the way, you’ll build your own confidence, strengthen your leadership skills, and connect with a supportive community that shares your passion.

Volunteer as a troop leader: Guide a group of Girl Scouts by creating a fun, safe space. We’ll help you get started with easy-to-use tools like the Girl Scout Experience Box and ready-made Troop Year Plans so you can focus on fun, growth, and connection.

Be a supportive adult volunteer: Help girls thrive by assisting with meetings, activities, or special events, no matter your schedule or experience.

Get involved on your terms. Choose a role that fits your time and interests—from leading a troop to lending a hand behind the scenes.

No previous experience is required to support girls as they build confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships through the Girl Scout experience. Your local Girl Scout Council can help get you started.

The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $75 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Financial aid is available. Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.

How to Join

You can join Girl Scouts at any point during the year! Annual membership is $30 for adults, and financial assistance is available.

Adult memberships to join Girl Scouts are $30 annually. This membership fee helps support performing background checks, accident insurance for members participating in approved Girl Scout activities, program development, research, resources, training, and technology to improve the Girl Scout experience for girls, volunteers, and parents.

Join as a Volunteer

There are many ways to volunteer—decide how you would like to participate!

Click “Sign Me Up” to begin registration.
Select “Volunteer” and continue through the search.
On the Volunteer Role selection page, you can select a troop role by clicking “Add Role.”
- If you are not volunteering with a troop, select “Become a General Member.” Please contact our Customer Care Team at CustomerCare@gssne.org or 401-331-4500 to let us know how you’d like to participate.
Select “Log In” to either create a new account or log in to an existing one. Once you are logged in, you will be able to continue filling out your member details and payment information.
You will pay $30 in membership dues. If you require financial assistance, please select the financial assistance option during checkout and we will contact you with more information.
Once you have completed your registration, we will contact you about completing your mandatory background screening with Verified Volunteers when you are prompted during the registration process. If you live in Massachusetts, you will need to complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check as well.

You will receive an email communication confirming that membership and screenings have been received and processed.

If you are volunteering as a troop support volunteer you are all set once your membership and background screening have been successfully processed.

To safeguard the health, safety, and general well-being of the members we serve, and prior to having any contact with youth including access to their personal information or managing Girl Scout funds, each prospective GSSNE volunteer is required to become adult member of Girl Scouts USA (“GSUSA”) and complete a thorough criminal background check (“CBC”) process.
