Camp Hoffman Centennial

Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England's Camp Hoffman is one of the oldest continuously operating Girl Scout camps in the country, and it turned 100 in July 2021! There is something magical about camp, Camp Hoffman in particular, as a place where girls and adults can come to truly be themselves and where they are celebrated for being just who they are. It is a safe place to fail, knowing we’ll be supported and encouraged to try again. It is a place to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. It is a place where we make friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

We thank all who traveled from near and far to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Camp Hoffman for the Camp Hoffman Centennial Celebration on September 25, 2021—the excitement and joy from all who participated was abundant. We had over 550 current and former Girl Scouts along with their friends and family join us for a day of fun and celebration! A very special thank you to the Camp Hoffman Centennial Committee for planning and leading this momentous event, and thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on the day of the event.

If you'd like to stay involved with GSSNE or if you would like to support our camps for generations to come, please check out the options below! We also still have some Camp Hoffman merchandise available at the GSSNE Shop in Warwick, including mugs, ornaments, bandanas, patches, t-shirts, and bracelets.

Join our Alum Networks

Our Alum Networks bring together GSSNE alums who want to reconnect with old friends and make new ones though fun groups and events. We are building a culture of philanthropy and engagement through volunteer opportunities, both within Girl Scouting and our broader community. We have a dedicated Camp Hoffman Alum network where we will continue to share camp-related alum opportunities going forward. We also have a general Girl Scout Alum Network for ALL Girl Scout alums. Sign up for one or both today!

During the Camp Hoffman Centennial year, we shared many stories and memories from Camp Hoffman alums. We loved hearing how this special camp has impacted the lives of so many people. The collection of stories can be found at gssne.org/camphoffmanalums. We hope you find them as inspiring as we did!

Adopt-A-Spot at Camp Hoffman!

Adopt-A-Spot at Camp Hoffman!

Adopt-A-Spot participants help with the upkeep of Camp Hoffman to keep it clean and beautiful for everyone. Participants upkeep their adopted spot four times a year for two years, and in return, receive council-wide recognition for their efforts, an Adopt-A-Spot fun patch, and early registration to reserve a camping unit once during the year.

If you would like to sponsor a site financially, that is an option too! You can make a secure donation online, from the drop down menu select “Endowment for Camp Hoffman” as the donation category and note ‘Adopt-A-Spot’ in the special occasion field. The suggested donation amount for each Adopt-A-Spot is $100. In return, you receive the same benefits as above.  The Adopt-A-Spot registration is open now!

Key Points:

  • Any troop, group, families, or individuals may adopt a spot or financially sponsor a spot at Camp Hoffman. The adopting individuals or organizations commit to cleaning up the adopted site at least four times a year for two years.
  • In return, you will receive council-wide recognition for your efforts and/or donation.
  • If the participants are unable to honor their agreements, all benefits will be no longer be applicable.
  • Participants are required to report the results of their clean-up to the GSSNE Outdoor Program Manager, Cassie Audette, so the information can be tracked accordingly.
  • Participants are responsible for their bringing their own tools and cleaning supplies.

Keeping your "spot" beautiful is one of the most rewarding activities in which you can participate in keeping the camp healthy and clean for all of the girls to enjoy. When you look back over the area you cleaned in the previous hour or two, you are sure to feel a deep sense of satisfaction and pride in your camp. Thank you for keeping Camp Hoffman beautiful! We couldn’t do it without the generous efforts of volunteers and sponsors like you!

The 100th Coin Campaign for Girls
The 100th Coin Campaign for Girls

We want to invite you to participate in the official 100th Coin Campaign for girls to preserve all the memories of Camp Hoffman for the next century of Girl Scouts. Be a part of the legacy that will live on for years to come.

The beauty of our campaign is that everyone can be a part of it with any size gift! In fact, we are hoping that even the youngest of our Camp Hoffman alums—Girl Scout Daisies—will consider giving 100 pennies!

ALL GIFTS will be gratefully invested into this future fund for Camp Hoffman and help preserve its future for generations to come!

The 100th Coin Campaign for Girls!
So, here is the breakdown...
Girl Scout Daisies are asked to consider donating 100 pennies!
Girl Scout Brownies are asked to consider donating 100 nickels!
Girl Scout Juniors are asked to consider donating 100 dimes!
Girl Scout Cadette, Seniors and Ambassadors are asked to consider donating 100 quarters!

While coins are fun, any donations you submit do not have to actually be in a coin format—so if donating on behalf of your troop via check, cash, or credit card is better, that’s fine too! Any and all contributions at any capacity are gratefully appreciated, and you will be a part of a legacy that has helped girls become the amazing women they are through your donations!

If you are sending donations into our office, please use the official coin campaign forms for both troop and individuals here:

Right: Alli's design turned into a patch!

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Camp Hoffman, Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England invited girls to submit a patch design for the centennial. There were many great entries, so the decision was not an easy one but the winning design was provided by Alli Paliotta! Congratulations, Alli! And thank you to all of the entrants who crafted such creative designs. It seems that “Linger” was the resounding winner for most popular song to be used as a theme—bravo, everyone! Though your design may not have been selected, we appreciate all of your hard work in submitting your designs to this competition.

The Camp Hoffman Centennial Patch is available for purchase exclusively at the GSSNE Shop in Warwick!

On November 12, 2020, Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England hosted the first Camp Alum event of the centennial year where we celebrated our Girl Scout camping adventures, including our survival stories!!

At this event, we premiered the Camp Hoffman Centennial Celebration video, talked to the Camp Hoffman Centennial Committee to hear more about the exciting events planned throughout the year, had a sneak-peak at the Camp Hoffman Centennial Patch designed by one of our very own Girl Scouts, shared our favorite camp stories, and we had prizes for those who brought their favorite camp photos and/or crafts they made while at camp.

Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered to make this event great!

Camp Stewardship: March 20, 2021

On March 20, 2021, we held a Camp Stewardship event for all girls and adults where they spent the day at Camp Hoffman helping to prep the property for troop rentals, summer camp, and the Camp Hoffman Centennial Celebration! Attendees also had the opportunity to Adopt-A-Spot ahead of time and we offered projects for all ages and abilities!
